This study tested the Confluence Model's claim that pornography usage might be correlated with sexual aggression in men high, but not low, on predisposing risk factors of hostile masculinity (HM) and impersonal sexuality (IS). Three online surveys, comprising an American Mechanical Turk sample (N1 = 1528, Mage = 2246 years), a national sample of Canadian students (N2 = 1049, Mage = 2089 years), and a national sample of Canadian non-students (N3 = 905, Mage = 2166 years), were employed to examine the proposed hypothesis. Self-reported sexual aggression was, as predicted, consistently predicted by the combined influence of HM and IS across the various sample groups. Pornography use, in conjunction with other factors, produced a more intricate outcome. The Confluence Model hypothesis resonated with the operationalization of pornography use as the consumption of nine particular magazines, but its validity was undermined when pornography use was redefined in a contemporary and comprehensive manner including internet usage. The formation of a graphene foam, termed laser-induced graphene (LIG), through the selective irradiation of polymer films with inexpensive and widely available CO2 lasers, has generated significant research interest. The widespread application of LIG in electrochemical energy storage devices like batteries and supercapacitors is driven by its high conductivity, porosity, and the approach's simplicity and rapidity. Nonetheless, the vast majority of high-performance supercapacitors utilizing LIG technology, reported up to this point, are constructed from costly, petroleum-sourced polyimide materials (including Kapton and PI). This study showcases how the inclusion of microparticles of readily available, non-toxic, inexpensive sodium salts, such as NaCl and Na2SO4, within poly(furfuryl alcohol) (PFA) matrices, facilitates the creation of superior LIGs. The embedded particles serve as a template for pore formation, while also aiding in carbonization. Employing a quasi-experimental design, this study sought to determine the influence of interactive television-based art therapy on PTSD symptoms in school children who have been abducted. Participants partook in a twelve-week art therapy program delivered via interactive television. The results of the study underscored that art therapy was successful in reducing the symptoms characteristic of post-traumatic stress disorder. The treatment group's PTSD symptoms progressively worsened over the six-month follow-up period, significantly differing from the non-treatment group's comparatively stable symptom levels. The COVID-19 crisis has a global impact on different populations. The disparity in this effect appears to vary significantly between socioeconomic groups, particularly those with low and high SES levels. Employing a qualitative, salutogenic approach, this study examined experiences with stressors and coping resources during the pandemic among various socioeconomic groups in the Netherlands. The goal was to understand these experiences and subsequently develop strategies for enhancing the health and well-being of these groups. To delve into the experiences, encompassing resources and stressors, of Dutch-speaking respondents (25-55 years old) from low- (N = 37) and high-SES (N = 38) groups, we facilitated 10 focus group discussions and 20 individual interviews. We scrutinized the findings from individual, community, and national viewpoints. Results showcase coping methods being influenced by government protocols and how individuals react to them, impacting professional and recreational endeavors; psychological repercussions; resourcefulness; and social outcomes, particularly unity. A framework encompassing social interconnectedness and its counterpart, division, particularly in the context of polarization. COVID-19 measures presented more challenges and resulted in a greater social impact on neighborhoods for respondents with lower socioeconomic status than those with higher socioeconomic status. The potential of intersectoral partnerships to co-produce 'synergistic' solutions to complex public health problems far surpasses the limitations of any single institution acting alone. Shared decision-making and the equitable co-construction of partners are fundamental to achieving synergy. Despite the theoretical benefits of synergy, numerous partnerships fail to translate the concept into tangible outcomes. This study, based on the Bergen Model of Collaborative Functioning, offers insights into optimizing partnership synergy by analyzing the correlation between 'inputs' to the shared mission and partner resources. We introduce the concept of 'dependency structure' to illustrate the impact of input interactions on the balance of power and, therefore, the possibility of shared decision-making and co-construction. Analysis of qualitative data from 27 interviews, 10 focus groups, partnership documents, and meeting observations within 10 intersectoral health promotion partnerships in Denmark yielded these findings. Eight separate categories of 'input resources' were found, shaping the probable power dynamic between partners, both positively and negatively, in terms of productivity. Nonetheless, the interconnected arrangement that came into being—and its potential for mutual benefit—was dependent upon how these inputs functioned within the context of the partnership's mission. Our findings support the idea that a clearly defined shared mission fulfils three roles: (i) emphasizing a common aspiration, (ii) aligning the individual aims of partners, and (iii) enabling collaborative endeavors. Influencing the creation of a balanced dependency structure, in which collaborators recognized their interconnectedness, partnerships' formation of a shared mission spanning all three functions drove the adoption of collaborative decision-making. Establishing a shared mission for the partnership, through early and constant discursive processes, was particularly important to maximizing potential synergy.
Since the first walkability scale emerged in 2003, studies employing person-environment fit models and empirical research, some published in Health Promotion International, have consistently highlighted the role of 'neighborhood walkability' in shaping healthy communities. Neighborhood walkability, while undeniably impacting health-seeking behaviors and health, is incompletely captured by recent models, which frequently neglect the essential roles of psychosocial and personal factors, especially in enabling successful aging in place. Consequently, the creation of scales to gauge human ecosystem elements has failed to encompass all crucial factors pertinent to the elderly. Through an analysis of relevant literature, we seek to develop a more thorough model, to be called Socially Active Neighborhoods (SAN), that will better accommodate the aging-in-place needs of the elderly population. We delineate the scope of SAN, drawing on a systematic literature review and a narrative approach, and examine its implications for gerontology, health promotion, and psychometric assessment procedures. Unlike conventional measurements and definitions of neighborhood walkability, SAN integrates psychosocial factors informed by critical theory. These factors include, but are not limited to, social interactions and individual well-being. The neighborhood infrastructure's safety and accessibility features, designed to encourage older adults with physical and cognitive limitations, promote continued physical activity, social engagement, and overall well-being in later life. By leveraging key person-environment models, including the vital Context Dynamics in Aging (CODA) framework, the SAN exemplifies the recognition of context's role in fostering healthy aging.
